Stories From the Road: DFL-endorsed Kelliher Talks Jobs in Winona
WINONA,
MN – DFL-endorsed candidate for Governor Margaret Anderson Kelliher continued
her No Stone Unturned jobs tour
today, visiting Southeast Technical College in Winona. Kelliher met with instructors
and discussed the college’s new two-year nanosciences certificate
program – a program that is training students for the next generation of
good-paying Minnesota jobs.
“As Governor, I will do everything it takes to get Minnesota back to work. No idea is too big or too small – whether it creates 50 jobs or 500,” said Kelliher. “Programs like this one at Southeast Technical College are laying the groundwork for needed job growth in Minnesota.”
The National Science Foundation, which helped fund the new nanosciences program, predicts a demand for 2 million nanotechnology workers worldwide over the next 15 years. Kelliher says it will take bold leadership and programs like this one at Southeast Technical College can help bring some of those good-paying jobs to Minnesota.
“One of the best things we can do to create jobs in Minnesota is investing in education and training our workforce for good-paying jobs,” said Kelliher. “That’s an investment worth making.”
Education and workforce training are two key components of Kelliher’s No Stone Unturned jobs blueprint. Kelliher has been traveling the state highlighting the need for more jobs in Minnesota, and what she would do as Governor to get Minnesota back to work.
