Kelliher has been endorsed by more statewide labor unions, women's groups and other large organizations than any other DFL candidate. She has the public backing of 71 past and present elected officials, holds public pledges of support from more than 1,000 party activists and has received campaign contributions from more than 1,200 donors in four months.
In a fundraising e-mail last week, Seifert criticized Kelliher, Dayton and Rybak because he considers them the leading contenders, he said.
So do a lot of Democrats, but the leading contenders have several other strong candidates nipping at their heels.
Kelliher has received a few political shots, suggesting she's the top DFL target.
"It's really about building a person-by-person organization across this state," she said.
