What I Stand For

We have heard it said that the Declaration of Independence is the ‘bones’ of the law. In other words the Declaration describes the structure upon which our republic was formed. In the second paragraph we find this basic structure:

The Constitution for the united States of America built the muscle and sinew on these basic premises. It formalized the basic law adding movement and describing the upper and lower limits of that motion and how it was to function.

This Constitution is nothing more than an agreement drawn up between the several states in order to help‘secure these rights’, the federal government is a creature or corporation created by the states, which were in turn created by the people.

So here we have this creation, bones, muscle, sinew but what is the spirit or soul of this creature? In order to give it life, there must be some intangible essence which animates and motivates our nation to action.

We are blessed to live in a time when the founders words are available to all, but ignored by most. I say blessed because those of us that are passionate about it, are forced to study more intensely, to read to write and speak out for the same causes which brought about the civil disobedience of some farmers and merchants who stood against the most powerful military in the world in April of 1775. We speak of the balance of power tilting ever further toward the central government.

It is sad to witness our beloved republic on its death bed. The Constitution is really only in application in the election process, the rest of it is ignored. Some say that it is already passed away, that we have shut the door of limited government walking boldly into the arena of imperialism. With robust judicial system still we are lacking behind. The spirit still lingers, it still occupies the body. While the morphine drip of professional sports, television and other entertainment dulls the body’s pain, the spirit slips further and further away.
