"No Stone Unturned" Jobs Tour Will Visit Hinckley Heavy Equipment Facility Wednesday
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — DFL-endorsed candidate for Governor Margaret Anderson Kelliher will take her “No Stone Unturned” jobs tour to Hinckley tomorrow for a very special event.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher and all interested press will get an up-close demonstration of how minority workers are being trained for good-paying jobs operating heavy equipment – including dumptrucks, cranes, forklifts, and more. Kelliher will listen to the personal stories of trainees, and share her blueprint for job creation in Minnesota.
As the state and certain cities and counties work to increase diversity among contractors that bid on public-sector work, the need for qualified minority workers has also increased. In the last two years, Local 49 and Summit Academy, a nonprofit educational and vocational training center that empowers adults residing in the most economically depressed neighborhoods in the Twin Cities to become educated, employed, contributing members of the community, has led efforts to make sure that improved diversity is achieved responsibly.
